These words sometimes have more than one meaning in everyday English and also in Legal English.
Examples:
The word defendant has one meaning in the civil procedure but a different meaning in the criminal procedure.
The word trial has a different meaning in Legal English and in everyday English.
A written witness statement is something lawyers send to court in the English legal system. Is it the same in your jurisdiction?
